Petro-Canada Tank Farm Expansion

Project Name: Petro-Canada Tank Farm Expansion
Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Supreme Steel Ltd was awarded the structural steel supply and installation contract for Phase 1 of Petro-Canada's Edmonton refinery, Tank Farm Expansion project in the month of December. The project consisted of approximately 1700 metric tonnes of fabricated steel complete with a two coat epoxy / polyurethane high gloss paint system. The steel was primarily made up of pipe racks, modular pipe bridges, and access walkways. The largest of the pipe bridges, crossing a railroad right of way, was 25 feet wide and 185 feet long and weighed 230 tonnes.

Detailing began in mid-January and the first shipment of steel was sent to the construction site in early March. Over one third of the total steel package, approximately 575 tonnes, was shipped to the site during the month of May alone.

Steel that was supplied and installed by Supreme Steel Ltd provided a critical link between Petro-Canada's existing plant and the new tank farm facility. Thanks to the hard work of our drafting, shop, and field crews we were able to complete the project effectively.
