Position Overview
We are currently seeking an independent, solution-driven, and highly efficient individual to join our production team in the position of Maintenance Technician. This is a full-time unionized position working our day shift (Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm).
This role is vital for ensuring the quality and integrity of our machinery and equipment. The Maintenance team is responsible for supporting and executing the maintenance program for the fabrication shop by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on machinery and equipment. This role ensures that CNC equipment, overhead cranes, and all mechanical and electrical tools operate safely and at optimal performance.
Key Qualifications and Responsibilities
Requirements:
- Journeyperson or Apprentice Millwright or Electrician certification is an asset but not required
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing:
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Conveyance systems
- Automated machinery
- Mechanical and electrical systems
- Solid knowledge of troubleshooting, servicing, and repair practices
- Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems is considered an asset
- Ability to work with computerized and automated equipment systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Conscientious team player with a strong commitment to safety
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on fabrication shop equipment, including CNC machinery, overhead cranes, and material handling systems
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to minimize downtime
- Conduct regular inspections to identify equipment wear, defects, or potential failures
- Utilize schematics, drawings, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose problems and implement effective solutions
- Maintain and repair automated machinery and conveyance systems
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance practices and equipment reliability
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
- Work collaboratively with production teams to prioritize and coordinate maintenance needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
