Supreme Steel is currently looking for a professional, detail-orientated and highly efficient individual to join our Accounting team in the full-time hybrid position of Senior Accountant at our office in Acheson, AB.
The Senior Accountant is central to ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis, maintaining compliance with all accounting regulations. You will be responsible for auditing accounts, recording business transactions, supporting treasury management, and working closely with external auditors on the annual audit.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Gathering, analyzing and reporting of financial data, ensuring that reporting is compliant with ASPE guidelines, Canadian and American tax laws.
- Creating and validating work in progress reporting.
- Preparing annual reports, quarterly and monthly financial statements.
- Treasury management including forecasting and scheduling fund distribution.
- Providing financial advice based on data analytics to upper management.
- Monthly Project Reporting.
- Oversee Accounts Payable
- Maintain corporate credit card program and banking profiles
- Provide support to other team members and department
What you Bring (Required Competencies)
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exemplary ethical behavior when handling confidential financial documents and possess:
- BSc/BCom/BBA in Accounting, Finance or related field
- CPA designation, or enrollment in CPA program is preferred
- Completion of ME for US operation
- 3 years+ overall experience in an Accountant or Assistant Controller role
- 1-2 years of experience in a construction and/or production (project accounting) environment
- Strong current knowledge of Canadian accounting and taxation rules, legislation and policies
- Above average organizational skills
- Exceptional computer skills: advanced skills using Excel, ability to master ERP (Sage 300) and inhouse reporting (Power BI) software, with the ability to learn new programs
- Ability to successfully communicate quantitative data to decision-makers, displaying exceptional knowledge of best financial practices and business acumen.
