Supreme Steel is currently looking for a safety conscious, team oriented individual to fill our full time union position as Yard Crew – Forklift Operator at our facility in Acheson, AB. This is a full time, unionized position, working the day shift. The Forklift Operator is responsible for the moving of large steel materials for processing, stocking and organizing inventory in our yard. The successful candidate must have proficient forklift operating skills (+30,000 lbs capacity), strong communication skills and the ability to handle large, painted structural steel materials.
Preferred Forklift Operator candidates will possess the following attributes:
- Possess a current Forklift Operator Certificate
- Extensive knowledge of safe handling techniques of large steel (up to 60 ft in length), and proper use of material handling equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to safety procedures
- Familiarity of all steel grades and shapes
- Overhead crane operating experience is considered an asset
This individual will possess demonstrated ability to gain knowledge quickly and follow safety policies and procedures while promoting a safe work environment.

Successful candidates will be required to pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing, as well as Physical Fitness to Work Mobility Testing as a condition of their employment. Reliable transportation to the facility is Acheson is also required, as there is limited public transit.
