Supreme (formerly known as Canron) commenced fabrication of the Alex Fraser Bridge (originally called the Annacis Bridge) to span over the Fraser River in 1985. Work was completed in 1986 at an approximate value of $2.5 million. For the project 5,500 metric tonnes of weather steel was fabricated into girders as deep as 2.45m. A unique cable anchorage system to the main perimeter girders require stringent welding and quality control as deemed fracture critical.
