This project involved challenging and diverse construction operations that included the fabrication and erection of the Process Plant structural steel, the supply and installation of the insulating sheets [cladding], the design and supply of the arctic utilidors [connecting the various buildings], route mechanical and electrical services, supply of high angle conveyors, and the erection of the Recovery Building. Supreme Steel also supplied and erected the structural steel for the Accommodations Complex Core.
In total, Supreme Steel supplied, and or erected, 6,000 tons of steel, installed 950,000 sq. ft. of cladding. In addition to supply, Supreme Steel also pre-assembled as much as was practical – to the point that one of the largest loads to transport over the ice road was the compression ring for the process bin, weighing in at 130,000 lbs.
